Xiaomi had started sending out media invites for the launch of its ‘Flagship Dual Camera Phone’ in India on September 5. It has now been confirmed that the smartphone will be launched exclusively on Flipkart. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed which smartphone is arriving, but rumors point out to the recently launched Mi 5X.
Xiaomi launched the Mi 5X in China last month at a price of RMB 1,499 which translates to approximately Rs 15,000. It is available in three color options of rose gold, gold, and black. Other than its dual-camera module, the Mi 5X boasts flagship features and is touted to be a toned down, affordable version of the Mi 6.
Speaking about its specifications, the Mi 5X flaunts an all-metal unibody with a 5.5-inch full HD display. Under its hood, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC is paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card. It isn’t clear whether both the variants of the Mi 5X will be launched in India.
In the photography department, the dual-camera module on the Mi 5X includes a pair of 12-megapixel sensors with dual-LED flash. One of the two is a primary lens while the other is a telephoto lens. The dual cameras are capable of achieving DSLR-like Bokeh effect. Up front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel camera for selfies.
Connectivity options on the Mi 5X include 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi. On the software front, it runs MIUI 9 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The Mi 5X is the first Xiaomi smartphone to launch with MIUI 9 onboard. Keeping the smartphone ticking is 3,080mAh battery.
