Reveal iPhone 8 Launch Date Today

tim-cook-iphoneIf you have been eagerly waiting to know when the anticipated Apple iPhone 8 will launch, then today might be your lucky day. Well, at least that is what the latest rumor is claiming that Tim Cook is planning to make an important announcement in the augmented reality/ virtual reality space in Austin, Texas. This announcement is also expected to shed light on the launch date for the September iPhone event.
Tim Cook reportedly flew into Austin after visiting the Apple Store employees in Iowa, where he announced the $1.4 billion investment for the new data center facility in Waukee. According to an Apple Insider report, an anonymous tipster has claimed that Cook made the journey to Austin to make some key announcement in partnership with a local AR firm. However, the claims stand unverified at the time of writing this.
It is no secret that Apple is investing heavily in augmented reality technology. The company recently introduced its ARKit for developers to build augmented experiences through games and apps. In the past, Cook has also expressed thecompany’s keen interest in exploring the technology. It might not come as a surprise if Apple does announce its next step in the field of AR.
However, the company’s speculated announcement related to the launch of iPhone 8 and successors to iPhone 7 lineup needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Traditionally, the second week of September is when Apple chooses to unveil its new smartphones. Given that it is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, the company might be planning something major. Meanwhile, a recent report indicated that Apple might announce the iPhone 8 on September 12 with sales to follow on September 22.
Talking about the anniversary edition iPhone 8; it is expected that Apple will bring back the iPhone 4-like glass and metal design with a strong focus on new-age capabilities such as a 3D facial recognition camera, on-screen fingerprint sensor, and more. It is expected to retain the dual camera module seen on the iPhone 7 Plus. However, what would possibly set the iPhone 8 apart from other iPhone models from the past is its hefty price tag. It is speculated that the iPhone 8 will be the most expensive iPhone ever.
