Xiaomi Mi 7 specifications, price surface online; here’s what we know so far

The Xiaomi Mi 6 was launched earlier this year, and with the year coming to an end, rumors about next year’s flagship device, the Mi 7 have already started surfacing online. Now, a few details including the price and specifications of the Mi 7 has surfaced online hinting at what next year’s flagship device could look like.

Spotted by Gizmochina, the Mi 7 is expected to follow the on-going trend in the market and ship with thinner bezels and full-screen when compared to this year’s Mi 6.

In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will feature a 6.01-inch OLED display that is said to be supplied by Samsung. Under the hood, the device might be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. Here it is worth noting that Qualcomm is yet to announce its flagship chipset, the Snapdragon as yet. However, considering Xiaomi uses flagship chipset in their flagship phone, this might actually stand true. A recent rumor hinted that Xiaomi and Qualcomm are currently working to optimize the upcoming Snapdragon 845 SoC for the Xiaomi Mi 7.

On the camera front, the Mi 7 is expected to sport dual-rear camera with a f/1.7 aperture. We still don’t have clarity on the camera resolution though. The might also be a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone, in terms of design, is said to be made out metal and glass to add to the premium look and feel of the phone. Previous rumors also suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will likely support Qi standard wireless charging as Xiaomi recently joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).

In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to retail at a price starting 2,699 RMB (Rs 26,500 approximately) in China. If rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to launch in the first quarter or early second quarter of 2018.

To recap, the Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a 5.15-inch display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. For photography, there is a dual-camera setup at the back that includes a pair of 12-megapixel snappers — one wide-angle lens and one telephoto lens capable of 2X lossless zoom. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies. Xiaomi did not launch the Mi 6 in India claiming that the flagship device is too expensive to launch in the Indian market.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 listed online with 5.99-inch full HD display ahead of launch

Xiaomi India had teased a smartphone launch earlier, which is expected to be the Redmi Note 5.

A new Xiaomi smartphone launch is approaching, and it could be the Redmi Note 5. Successor to the popular Redmi Note 4, this upcoming smartphone has been leaked numerous times, and even spotted on retailer website JD.com. While we are still waiting for an official launch, the smartphone has yet again been spotted on another retailer website.

The Redmi Note 5 spotted on Oppomart (via SlashLeaks) sports a large display as rumored, but is slightly different than its past leaked renders. There are almost no bezels on the sides with very thin ones on top and bottom. Like other Redmi smartphones, the bottom bezel houses the three capacitive touch buttons. At the rear there’s a single camera with LED flash, and the fingerprint sensor below. There are two very visible antenna lines running along the top and bottom.

In line with previous leaks, the Redmi Note 5 is seen sporting a dual-camera setup at the back. Surprisingly that is not the case with this listing. Moving on, the listing also reveals alleged specifications of the smartphone. The Redmi Note 5 is said to feature a 5.99-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, and is likely to come in two variants – 32GB storage with 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage with 4GB RAM.

For photography, the Redmi Note 5 is said to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera. Its connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9. The Redmi Note 5 will be fueled by a 4,000mAh battery.

While most of the specifications do match with past reports, there are some differences though. Some reports suggest that the Redmi Note 5 will be powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC instead, and feature a dual-camera of 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors.

Samsung SM-W2018 flip phone spotted again in hands-on video

The Samsung SM-W2018 will be the successor to last year's SM-W2017.

So far, the Samsung SM-W2018 flip phone has been spotted in a number of alleged leaks. Now, an alleged hands-on video of the phone has been posted on YouTube, which shows off its design, dual-screen display, front camera and the back panel. Considering a hands-on video has surfaced online, a launch should not be too far off.

First spotted by Gizchina, the hands-on video shows the Samsung SM-W2018 featuring a metal unibody design. Among its highlights is the smartphone’s dual-display, with thin bezels on the sides. At the rear, the camera is placed at the center with a setup similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8 where the lens sits next to the fingerprint sensor. Needless to say, the phone seen in the hands-on video is very much similar to what has been on previous leaks.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung SM-W2018 is expected to feature two dual 4.2-inch full HD displays, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. Samsung is expected to launch two variants of the flip phone – one with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM, and one with 64GB storage and 6GB of RAM.

In the camera department, the flip phone is rumored to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera. Up front, there could be a 5-megapixel camera for selfies. The device could be fueled by a 2,300mAh battery. Some reports also suggest an iris scanner for biometric authentication.

While there is no official announcement yet, the SM-W2018 is expected to launch in December this year. Just like its predecessor, the SM-W2018 is also expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market. In terms of pricing, the phone is expected to be priced around $2,000 (approximately Rs 128,200), which is in line with the previous pricing structure.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to launch at MWC 2018, and go on sale in April.

The rumor mill is currently buzzing with leaks on Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones. Recently we came across reports of Samsung launching the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at MWC 2018. It is now suggested that after the launch, the Galaxy S9 series will be available for purchase in April. Now, the Galaxy S9+ has been listed on Geekbench.

The benchmarking website lists a Samsung smartphone bearing the model number SM-G960F. While the listing doesn’t explicitly mention Galaxy S9, the specifications make it seem likely that it is the said smartphone. According to the listing, the Galaxy S9 has a single-core score of 2,680, and a multi-core score of 7,787. As of now, these scores make the Galaxy S9 the most powerful Android smartphone.

The smartphone runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo, and comes with 4GB of RAM. Powering the Galaxy S9 is the new Exynos 9 Series 9810 octa-core processor. In other markets, the Galaxy S9 is likely to launch with the latest Snapdragon processor – heavily rumored to be the upcoming Snapdragon 845 SoC. Although this un-released Galaxy S9 shows an impressive score on Geekbench, it still isn’t on par with the new Apple iPhone X or even the iPhone 8 series. The iPhone X has a single-core score of 4,197, and multi-core score of 10,051.

However, it is still too early to draw any conclusions on the Galaxy S9. Recently, the Galaxy S9 has been rumored to feature 3D sensing cameras for facial recognition like Face ID on the iPhone X. The smartphone is also rumored to feature a dual-camera setup which “uses anti-glare BBAR layer ghost technology”. This technology in simple terms is used to eliminate glare, and dual images on photos.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ with 4GB RAM, octa-core processor leaked

It was earlier believed that the Galaxy S9 duo would come with 6GB or 8GB RAM this time.

The Galaxy S9 duo is the new anticipated highlight from Samsung, and fans and critics are looking forward to every information, official or rumored, about the smartphones. Coming in today is an alleged benchmark leak of the Galaxy S9+smartphone, which claims to reveals a bunch of specifics.

Spotted on Geekbench (via PhoneArena), the listing reveals that the Galaxy S9+ will be packed with 4GB of RAM, as opposed to the 6GB/8GB that was anticipated till now. One other thing that the listing confirms is the fact that the smartphone will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo on board. We don’t have any reason to believe that the Galaxy S9 model will feature a different technical specifications configuration except for the display, like it has been for the Galaxy S8 as well.

Further, although it is too early to expect an official date of release, many reports suggested a late February or early March release for the smartphone. However, contrary to that, there have also been a word on a release as early as January 2018 for the Galaxy S9 duo. And if we come to think of it, it may actually be true, considering a benchmark leak like the Geekbench’s signifies the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are already being tested before prime time.

Few days ago, Samsung quietly launched the next-gen Exynos 9810 chipset, built on Samsung’s second-generation 10nm production node. The chipset is believed to be 20 percent faster than the predecessor found in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The chipset will be capable of combining six carrier signals for speeds up to 1.2Gbps.

Samsung has not official revealed which devices might be powered by the Exynos 9810, but, there are wide rumors that the 2018-flagships – Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be powered by the chipset. In fact, the smartphone is expected to launch in two variants – one with Snapdragon 845 SoC and second with Exynos 9810 SoC.

OnePlus 5T with Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8GB RAM spotted on Geekbench, real-life photos leaked too

The latest leak shows off the OnePlus 5T smartphone in its full glory.

After launching the OnePlus 5 earlier this year, OnePlus is now gearing up to launch the refreshed OnePlus 5T smartphone in the coming week. The event is set to take place on November 16 in Brooklyn, New York and most details of the smartphone have already been leaked. We have seen the leaked renders and have come across rumored specifications as well. Now, in the latest leak, real-life photos of the smartphone have also surfaced along with specifications in a reviewer’s guide, revealing the complete design of the smartphone. Apart from that, right a week before the launch, the smartphone has also been spotted on Geekbench revealing specifications of the phone.

Spotted on ZDNET’s German site, the reviewer uploaded unboxing images of the OnePlus 5T along with the reviewer’s guide a bit too early. Among other details, the leak reveals that the OnePlus 5T will come with Apple iPhone X like FaceID to unlock the smartphone. This is one of the fresh rumors we have heard so far. The photos also show that the company retains the headphone jack and the 18:9 aspect ratio.

Apart from that, the listing reveals that the smartphone is made of anodized Aluminum and feature a 6.01-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2160 resolution display with pixel density of 401ppi. Under the hood, there is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset paired with Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. The OnePlus 5T is likely to be offered in two variants – 64GB internal storage with 6GB RAM and 128GB model with 8GB of RAM.

Keeping the smartphone ticking will be a 3,300mAh non-removable battery with support for Dash Chargeing. On the connectivity front, there is a USB-C, Dual nano-SIM, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. On the software front, the smartphone will run OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

While the listing doesn’t mention the camera details, thanks to the Geekbenchlisting, there might likely be a pair of 20-megapixel dual cameras at the rear. It is also expected to feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone logged a score of 1,959 in single-core test and 6,742 at the multi-core. The Geekbench listing was first spotted by Gizmochina.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently hinted at the pricing on Weibo suggesting that the smartphone will cost 4,000 RMB (approximately Rs 39,100). In India, OnePlus will be will conducting a flash sale for the OnePlus 5T on November 21 for early birds, with the official sales starting November 28. The sale will be exclusively on Amazon India. Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus with edge-to-edge display leaked again

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the ‘best selfie smartphone’ in India tomorrow. As it introduces a new smartphones series tomorrow, Xiaomi is also rumored to upgrade its Redmi series this month. The Redmi 5 Plus has been showing up on leaks quite frequently now. Now the device has been leaked yet again in what is claimed to be the smartphone’s hands-on photos.

Complementing past leaks, the Redmi 5 Plus is seen again with a tall edge-to-edge display. If rumors are to be believed, then the Redmi 5 Plus would be the first smartphone in the series with such a design. The leaked photos (via GizChina) further reveal a lit display with on-screen buttons making up for the lack of a home button. The design is similar to what we have seen before. What’s missing here is the rear panel’s design which has so far shown a dual-camera setup aligned vertically.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Redmi 5 Plus is rumored to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone will possibly be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The suspected dual-camera setup on the Redmi 5 Plus will possibly be a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors.

Along with the Redmi 5 Plus, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi 5 as well which would be the lower variant of the two. The Redmi 5 is rumored to flaunt a 5.7-inch HD display with Snapdragon 450 SoC under its hood. The smartphone could pack 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The expected pricing details of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus have been leaked as well. The Redmi 5 is predicted to retail at RMB 799 (approximately Rs 7,900). The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, could be priced at RMB 1,099 (approximately Rs 10,800).

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is expected to launch sometime in November.

A possible upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi is the Redmi 5 Plus. The smartphone has been showing up on leaks now and then. A retail box of the Redmi 5 Plus was discovered last month hinting at an imminent launch. Hands on photos of the alleged Redmi 5 Plus have now been shared on Weibo. The photos show the smartphone’s front and back design, and have been shot with a Xiaomi Mi 6.

Starting with the front panel, the Redmi 5 Plus has a fairly large display with very thin bezels on all sides. The top chin bezel the speaker grille and front camera. There doesn’t seem to be the capacitive buttons, which we see on Redmi smartphones. The smartphone will probably have on screen buttons instead. The rear design is quite interesting as it shows a dual-camera setup aligned vertically. The Redmi design is apparent with the antenna lines, and circular fingerprint sensor at the center.

The Weibo post claims that these photos are of the Redmi 5 Plus, but nothing can be confirmed as of now. As far as specifications are concerned, the Redmi 5 Plus is expected to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with a possible 18:9 aspect ratio. It could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC or Snapdragon 450 SoC. The smartphone is rumored to launch in two variants of 3GB and 4GB of RAM. The base variant will likely be the Redmi 5, while the higher variant will launch as Redmi 5 Plus. As for the dual-camera setup, the specifics could be a combination of a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras.

Along with the Redmi 5 Plus, Xiaomi is also speculated to launch the Redmi Note 5. The smartphone is rumored to come with a 5.5-inch full HD display, and a MediaTek Helio P25 SoC octa-core processor. It will possibly launch in two variants of 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage.

The Redmi Note 5 is also expected to sport a dual-camera module, which could include 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. For selfies, it could house a 12-megapixel camera up front. Armed with a 4,000mAh battery, the Redmi Note 5 will possibly run on Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9. Xiaomi is also rumored to opt for a USB Type-C port on the Redmi Note 5.

Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ leak reveals how they will take on the new Apple iPhones

It is that time of the year when rumors and leaks around the Samsung Galaxy S9 start emerging online. A new leak now reveals alleged concept images of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ showing its possible design, and some specifications of the smartphones.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are imagined with a similar design to that of the Galaxy S8 series. The front panel has slight curves on the edges with thin bezels on the sides. There is no home button up front, but the top bezel houses the front camera and speaker grille. The power button, volume rocker and Bixby button are visible on the side panels. In comparison to past leaked renders, the design language remains the same.

However, an interesting discovery in this leak is that the spec sheet mentions “no headphone jack”. If rumors are to be believed, then the Galaxy S9 series would be the first Samsung smartphones without a headphone jack. It is also written that the smartphones will feature an under-screen fingerprint sensor, and 3D sensor for facial recognition. On the contrary, a recent patent filing by Samsung hinted at a home button on the Galaxy S9. It’s a bit too early to determine which mode of biometric authentication Samsung would opt for on the Galaxy S9 series.

The Galaxy S9 is further rumored to feature a 5.8-inch display, while the Galaxy S9+ will flaunt a 6.2-inch display. For photography, the Galaxy S9 duo is said to feature a pair of 16-megapixel rear cameras, and also dual 12-megapixel front cameras. The smartphones will come with either be IP65 or IP68 rating for water resistance. It’s only conceptualization and speculations at this point so it’s best to keep judgement for when there’s more confirmation.

This could be the world’s first 5G smartphone

5G or fifth-generation technology is said to deliver better internet speed and seamless connectivity.

5G technology is the buzz word right now. As telecom operators and device manufacturers are looking at ways to implement the technology, we already have a glimpse of what could possibly turn out to be the world’s first 5G smartphone.

The purported device showed up through Qualcomm’s Marketing lead for LTE and 5G NR modems Sherif Hannak’s tweet. In his tweet posted last week, he shows off a smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon logo at the back.

If the image is anything to go by, the phone could feature a dual-camera setup at the back, along with redesigned antenna lines. The device appears to feature a design language similar to Sony’s Xperia lineup with edgy corners. In response to messages to his tweet, Hannak reveals how the support for multi-mode 2G/3G/4G/5G.

It is worth noting that while the phone features a Qualcomm branding at the back, it could be a prototype device being tested by the chipmaker. Qualcomm said earlier that 5G mobile technology could be made available to users as soon as 2020, and the latest photo appears to be in line with the claims. Earlier this month, Qualcomm successfully tested Snapdragon X50 5G modem chipset, which is claimed to deliver 1 gigabit a second wireless data to smartphones.

5G technology’s major use case is in Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The fifth-generation technology is said to further improve how we interact with devices.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC likely to be announced in early December: Report

The Snapdragon 845 chipset is expected to bring performance and battery life improvements over its predecessor.

Qualcomm is reportedly working on its next-gen flagship mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 845. Successor to the existing Snapdragon 835 SoC, the new chipset is expected to be announced by the end of this year. The new chipset is expected to bring performance improvements along with battery life efficiency.

According to a leaked invite spotted on Weibo (via mysmartprice), the Snapdragon 845 SoC will be announced at the Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, Hawaii. The event is set to take place between December 4-8, and it is likely that the chipset will be announced on the very first day, the report states.

The Snapdragon 835 SoC was unveiled at CES 2017 in January, whereas its successor is expected to be announced a month earlier. Rumors also claim that Samsung will be manufacturing the chipsets, and it already has dibs on the first production batch for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones.

Even as earlier rumors hinted that the new chipset will be made on 7nm process, the next-gen chipset is expected to be manufactured on the same 10nm FinFET process as the Snapdragon 835 SoC. However, instead of custom Kryo cores, the next-gen chipset is expected to see a shift to four ARM Cortex A75 cores, along with four Cortex A53 cores. In terms of graphics, the Snapdragon 845 SoC could be paired with Adreno 630 GPU.

On the connectivity front, the Snapdragon 845 SoC is rumored to ship with X20 modem with support for download speeds up to 1.2Gbps. Qualcomm has also been focusing on its Spectra ISP for improved low-light photography, and camera with zero shutter lag. With competitors such as Huawei adding Artificial Intelligence in its Kirin chipsets, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Qualcomm also does the same with the new Snapdragon 845 SoC. Rest of the details are scarce at the moment, but we are not likely to see devices running on the Snapdragon 845 SoC until first half of 2018.

Nokia 2 benchmarking leak reveals key specifications, to be HMD Global’s entry-level smartphone

Nokia 2 is expected to be launching in the coming few days.

Nokia 2 has been doing the rounds of the rumor mill quite frequently. Now, thanks to the upcoming smartphone’s listing on AnTuTu, we have a fair idea about what would be on offer when HMD Global chooses to officially release the phone.

According to past reports, Nokia 2 is said to be the company’s cheapest smartphone yet. Now, the latest listing on AnTuTu is in line with that. If the listing is to be believed, the Nokia 2 will be equipped with modest hardware, including Snapdragon 212 SoC with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Given the brand name is associated with catering to all kinds of price categories, this is expected to be a welcome decision.

Despite it being an entry-level smartphone, the Nokia 2 will run the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and flaunt a HD (720x1280p pixels) display. For optics, it is likely to bundle an 8-megapixel camera at the back along with a 5-megapixel front camera.

Earlier last week, the smartphone was briefly listed on US retailer B&H website, along with details about its specifications. Based on the listing, Nokia 2 will be a dual-SIM model with a price tag of just $99 (approximately Rs 6,500). There will be two color choices according to the retailer’s listing – black and white.

Nokia 2 previously also showed up in the Bluetooth SIG database. While the AnTuTu listing does not clearly specify, past rumors indicate the phone will be fueled by a massive 4,000mAh battery. For a $99 smartphone, this battery capacity seems impressive.

As a report on GSMArena puts, HMD Global is hosting an event on October 31 in India, where it might possibly launch a new Nokia phone. Again, as there is no official word on which phone the company would be launching on that day, speculations side with the Nokia 7.

Vivo Xplay 7 leak hints at bezel-less display, dual-camera setup and more

Vivo Xplay 7 will be the successor to last year's Xplay 6 smartphone.

Vivo has been long rumored to be launching a new phone called, Xplay 7. The smartphone’s USP is said to be an under-display fingerprint sensing technology developed by Qualcomm. Now, the smartphone has been spotted on Weibo, which reveals what the upcoming smartphone will look like.

The first thing that the renders reveal is that the Vivo Xplay 7 will be available in black, gold and pink colors. The leaked images show the smartphone flaunting a bezel-less full-screen design. Leaks suggest that the smartphone could boast nearly 100 percent screen-to-body ratio. At the top of the display, you can spot two cutouts which can either be dual-selfie cameras or a selfie camera and a sensor. At the back, the Vivo Xplay 7 is seen featuring a dual-camera setup at the center of the device. Two antenna lines can be seen passing through the top and bottom of the device.

As mentioned, the under-display fingerprint scanner will be the upcoming smartphone’s USP. This technology was introduced by Vivo earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, Shanghai. This tech is based on Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. It eliminates the need for a dedicated fingerprint scanner to unlock or authenticate. The sensor is such that it is placed underneath the display.

In terms of specifications, rumors hint at a 6-inch edge-to-edge display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It is also speculated that the phone will be available in two variants – 128GB and 256GB, both will be paired with 8GB of RAM. The dual-camera setup at the back is expected to include a combination of 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel snappers with LED flash. The Moto X4 is scheduled to launch on November 13 in India.

After seeing a series of changes with the global launch date for the Moto X4, it was finally unveiled at IFA 2017. The same situation occurred in India when the confirmed date of October 3 turned out to be wrong. The company later confirmed another launch date of November 13 for the Moto X4. The smartphone’s alleged retail box has now leaked, giving away its potential India price tag.

Reported by DealNTech, an alleged Moto X4 retail box has surfaced online that hints at an India price tag of Rs 23,999. In comparison, the smartphone retails at €399 (approximately Rs 30,900) in Europe. The retail box further reveals that the Moto X4 will be available in ‘Super Black’ color, and with 4GB of RAM plus 64GB of internal storage. There’s another variant with 32GB of internal storage. The retail box looks quite convincing, but it’s best to wait for official confirmation. The report also states that the Moto X4 launching in India will not feature Amazon Alexa voice assistant.

In terms of specifications, the Moto X4 features a 5.2-inch full HD (1o80p) IPS display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. Under its hood, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. In the photography department, the Moto X4 sports a dual-camera module at the rear. The setup includes a combination of a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel f/2.0 aperture sensor, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens of f/2.2 aperture. The dual rear cameras are capable of achieving DSLR-like bokeh effect.

For selfies, the smartphone houses a 16-megapixel camera of f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash. It is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery along with the company’s TurboPower charger for fast charging. On the software front, the Moto X4 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The connectivity options available on the Moto X4 include 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port. The smartphone also features a front fingerprint sensor, and IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

So the Galaxy S9 may have a notch of its own.

In contrast with the rumors of Galaxy S9 featuring Apple iPhone X-like Face ID feature, a new patent by Samsung hints at a front-facing fingerprint scanner. Samsung has recently filed a patent with KIPRIS, South Korea’s trademarking organization.

If the information included in the patent documentation is accurate, the Samsung is planning on building a small recess aka notch, into the bottom of the Galaxy S9that will house a small fingerprint reader, SamMobile reports. This patent application – called Cryptic Display Apparatus and Method of Manufacturing Display Apparatus – we see a third option for the positioning of the finger scanner. The first two being at the back or under the home button. Whether it’s beautiful is of course a personal matter, but compared to the current virtual navigation keys on the Galaxy S8 duo or the Galaxy Note 8, such an implementation is less ‘clean’ as far as we are concerned.

Until last year, the fingerprint scanner in Samsung smartphones was simply in the home button below the screen. Nice and simple. But things changed in 2017 when the full view display trend began. And because it was not feasible to place the finger scanner under the display, Samsung moved it to the back on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, and that did upset many.

Quite off the line with this patent, a leak last week suggested Samsung to be working on its own 3D image mapping sensors, which would make a Face ID-like feature possible. Face ID is essentially Apple’s new secure authentication feature, which replaces the previously present Touch ID feature for authentication. The 3D recognition is made possible using a TrueDepth camera, which uses a setup of a dot projector, that projects and analyzes more than 30,000 invisible dots for creating a depth map of a user’s face, and an infrared camera to read the dotted pattern.

The Nokia 2 is believed to be launching sometime next month.

HMD Global promised to launch a bunch of Android smartphones this year, and the two left to be unveiled are the Nokia 2 and Nokia 9. The two belong to completely different price categories – where the Nokia 9 will be the company’s next premium flagship, the Nokia 2 will be the company’s cheapest Android smartphone till date. While that is all we officially know about the smartphones, a recent leak has revealed a few new things about the Nokia 2.

US retailer B&H briefly listed (via NokiaMob) the Nokia 2 on its website, along with information about the smartphone’s price. As per the leak, the Nokia 2, which was listed as a dual-SIM model, will be available for purchase at B&H for just $99 (Rs 6,500 approximately). The phone will come in two color variants of black and white. B&H has since removed any mention of the Nokia 2 from its website, but aside from what we’ve already outlined, there was no other information listed.

From what we know so far, the Nokia 2 is expected to launch sometime next month. A final date hasn’t been revealed yet. As for the leaks about specifications, the Nokia 2 is expected to feature a 5-inch HD display. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset clocked at 1.27GHz and paired with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM. There is no word on internal storage for the Nokia 2 yet. It is believed to be fuelled by a massive 4,000mAh battery, and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat inside. For photography, the Nokia 2 could sport an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera.

A recent leak also claimed to reveal the design of the Nokia 2. If that leak is to be believed, the Nokia 2 will sport a design very similar to that of the Nokia 3, but with curved edges. The leak showed no home button on the Nokia 2, instead it had three on-screen buttons. The volume rocker and power buttons were seen placed at the right side, whereas the rear camera and LED flash were vertically aligned with the Nokia logo sitting below.

Now that this year’s Galaxy S8 duo and the Galaxy Note 8 are out and running, the eyes of the fans are now seeking for the next Samsung flagship devices. Fortunately for them, even before Samsung made any official announcement about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, a bunch of leaks have been out, speculating what they could be like. And the latest that comes in, is apparently the official logo of the two upcoming Galaxy devices.

Coming from leakster Benjamin Geskin, these are said to be the official logos of next year’s Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. In a tweet, he also suggested that the Galaxy S9 will ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, which would replace the Snapdragon 835 found in the Galaxy S8 duo. However, that would be for the US and China market, in India and other countries, the Galaxy S9 will be powered by Exynos 9 octa-core chipset, built using the 10nm process.

Do note that Qualcomm changed its processor branding earlier this year, so the forthcoming chipset will technically be now referred to as the “Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform”. Basically, the processor will be Qualcomm’s next generation flagship mobile chipset solution, and the Galaxy S9 will probably be the first one to be powered by it.

Additionally, Geskin’s leak also suggests that both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with support for expandable memory up to 256GB using a microSD card.

Further, as per a recent leak, Samsung will be placing this 3D image mapping sensor on the upcoming Galaxy S9, which would work similarly to the Apple iPhone X’s Face ID. Samsung has also created two new image sensors lately that it thinks can help get rid of the infamous camera bump, which we now see in almost every other smartphone. Samsung says that with the new sensors, you can expect improved speed in focus, as well as the ability for the camera to keep locked-on and track moving objects. On its blog, Samsung promises that this will all be possible in low light too, vowing that it’ll keep the next smartphone bump-free, while also delivering ‘bokeh’ depth of focus effects with just a single lens. This hint is highly anticipated to be for the Samsung Galaxy S9 duo.

Other notable rumors include a 4K resolution display, camera improvements, and the introduction of an AI-specific chip under the phone’s hood. Perhaps also worth mentioning is that the phone is currently said to still include a headphone jack, which is great news for those that aren’t too keen on using a USB-C adapter or Bluetooth headphones. The smartphones smartphone are further speculated to come with advanced screen coating to actively repel water.

Just yesterday, chipmaker Qualcomm launched the new Snapdragon 636 chipset, aimed to power mid-range smartphones. Now, reports suggest that upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 may be the first smartphone to be powered by the new chipset.

According to a post on Weibo (via GizmoChina), Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 636 processor. The rumor makes sense since the chipset officially brings support for full HD 18:9 displays, running at a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, and the Redmi Note 5 is rumoured to feature a display just like that. Since the chipset is scheduled to start shipping from next month, it can be anticipated that the Redmi Note 5 might launch near the end of the year or early 2018.

Built on 14nm process, Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC is up to 40 percent faster than Snapdragon 630. With 64-bit architecture, the new chipset features eight Kryo 260 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It is definitely an upgrade over Snapdragon 630 that runs eight ARM Cortex A53 cores at 2.2GHz. With support for up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, the Snapdragon 636 chipset is backed with an upgraded Adreno 509 GPU, which the chipmaker claims to improve browsing and gaming performance by 10 percent.

As for the Redmi Note 5, there is no solid information, but the rumors are there in abundance. A very recent leaked photo of what is believed to be the Redmi Note 5 showed the device sporting an 18:9 aspect ratio display (expected to measure 5.5-inch), with almost bezel-less design and no home button. The smartphone is believed to sport a pair of 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors at the rear. Up front, the Redmi Note 5 is said to come with a 12-megapixel sensor.

HMD Global has created quite a reputation for Nokia smartphones this year. Bringing back the Nokia 3310, and launching the Nokia 3, 5, 6, and 8 smartphones, the company has left fans wanting for more. Rumors for HMD Global’s next flagship smartphone, the Nokia 9 have been showing up now and then. Based on the leaks and rumors that have accumulated so far, a concept video of the Nokia 9 has been created by OnLeaks.

The Nokia 9 is imagined with a dual-camera setup, no 3.5mm audio jack, and a curved edge display in a metal unibody. The Nokia 9′s display appears quite large and has curved edges similar to the Galaxy S7 edge. The top and bottom bezels are also comparatively thin. There’s a speaker grille/earpiece at the top and the front camera, and no presence of a Home button. On the bottom panel, a USB Type-C port is visible with an antenna band and speakers.

The power button and volume rocker sit on the right side, while the SIM slot is located on the left panel. Both sides have antenna lines as well. At the rear the dual-camera setup is placed vertically and has a bit of a bump. A fingerprint sensor is placed below the dual-camera setup, along with the Nokia branding running down below.

Although only a concept render, the Nokia 9 does sport a premium look if we go by this. It is expected to succeed the Nokia 8, and will possibly be launched next year. As far as specifications are concerned, the Nokia 9 is expected to come with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is also rumored that the Nokia 9 will feature IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

For photography, the dual-camera setup at the rear will possibly be ZEISS engineered as seen in the Nokia 8. In addition to the curved display, the Nokia 9 could also feature a glass topping which leads to the speculation of wireless charging. Also, there are rumors of iris scanning on the Nokia 9.

One of the most popular Xiaomi phones is set to have its successor. Called Redmi 5A, the smartphone is expected to get a number of upgrades under the hood, while retaining its budget-friendly tag. Subject to numerous leaks in the past, the Redmi 4A successor has now been detailed in an official poster, revealing everything about its specifications.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A, being a budget smartphone, offers entry-level features such as a plastic body design and no fingerprint sensor. However, its successor Redmi 5A is unlikely to carry forth all of the old features as per the newly leaked poster. Spotted on Chinese website ithome.com, the smartphone is shown as sporting a metal body design, with antenna lines running at the top of rear panel. Other than the change in material, the design language remains similar to the Redmi 4A with speaker grille at the bottom of the rear panel and the camera with LED flash placed on the top left.

One of the most interesting details from the poster is that Xiaomi is promising an 8-day standby battery life, which is pretty significant given the short-lived batteries in modern phones. According to GizmoChina, the promotional tagline for the phone roughly translates to ‘Lightweight and Long Battery Life’. The poster further reveals that the Redmi 5A will weigh 131.5 grams, and will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It will be one of the first set of Xiaomi phones to run on MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.

According to past leaks, the phone will sport a 5-inch HD display, and run Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC under the hood. It is expected to include 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. Previous leaks also indicate that it will house a 3,000mAh battery, however, in light of the latest leaks, we might get to see a higher capacity battery when the company officially announces the phone on October 20.
