NASA responds to 9-year-old who wants to be ‘Guardian of the Galaxy’

NASA’s Planetary Research director Dr James L Green called the young kid, congratulating him for interest in the job.

NASA recently announced that it has a job opening for a “Planetary Protection Officer,” someone who can protect Earth from “organic-constituent and biological contamination in human and robotic space exploration.” While that sounds like a big task, the job posting drew the attention of Jack Davis, a fourth grader from New Jersey. Jack sent NASA his application for the role, signing his letter as ‘Jack Davis, Guardian of the Galaxy, fourth grade.’

Well, this is not the first time NASA has encouraging a young talent to join the research center. Recently a 7-year-old boy, wrote a letter to NASA to inquire about being a candidate for a visit to Mars. NASA replied with a letter and few goodies for the boy.

Here’s the text of the letter Davis wrote to NASA.

Dear NASA,

My name is Jack Davis and I would like to apply for the planetary protection officer job. I may be nine but I think I would be fit for the job. One of the reasons is my sister says I am an alien.

Also, I have seen almost all the space movies and alien movies I can see. I have also seen the show Marvel Agents of Shield and hope to see the movie Men in Black. I am great at vidieo [sic] games. I am young, so I can learn to think like an alien.
