Xiaomi today announced that 150,000 units of the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite that went on sale sold out in just three minutes. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer also announced that it will be holding another sale for the Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite smartphones on November 15. The sale was conducted on Amazon India and mi.com.
The next sale of the smartphone will commence at 12:00PM via Amazon Indiaand mi.com. The Redmi Y1 was available in two variants – 32GB variant with 3GB RAM priced at Rs 8,999, and 64GB variant with 4GB RAM priced at Rs 10,999. The Redmi Y1 Lite, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 6,999.
The Redmi-series from Xiaomi has focused on addressing the India’s affordable smartphone needs. While the new Redmi Y-series sticks to the same price range, it is focused on selfie-loving youth.
The Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite are in demand courtesy of the specifications and features they come with at their price range. Both smartphones feature a 5.5-inch HD display, 3,080mAh battery, and run on Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 SoC, while the Y1 Lite is powered by a Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC. 
On the camera front, the Redmi Y1 sports a 13-megapixel camera with flash, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The Redmi Y1 Lite, on the other hand, comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support, and a 5-megapixel snapper for selfies.
Both smartphones come with connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The smartphones also feature a rear fingerprint sensor.
