Where the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is still settling in, rumors about its successor is already out there. However, soon after an alleged leaked photo of the Mi MIX 2s came out, the folks at Android Central immediately doused the false fire, calling it a fake news.
A few hours ago, a photo of a bezel-less Xiaomi smartphone, which pretty much looked like the Mi MIX 2, was put up on the web, and it immediately started to circulating. The reason people were calling it the successor of the Mi MIX 2 is because this had an Apple iPhone X-like notch at the top. So people started to call it the Mi MIX 2s, which was be said to sport a camera in the top of the display this time.
However, soon after Android Central stepped in with its report, clarifying that this not any successor, but the Mi MIX 2 itself, simply running an app that mimics the notch. The report says that the leaked photos conveniently hide the bottom bezel, which is where the camera module is located on the Mi MIX 2.
The report further says that the themes store on MIUI has plenty of options that let users “convert” their phones to an iPhone X lookalike. iOS-based themes have been popular among Xiaomi customers for several years now, and the launch of the iPhone X has led to themes that allow users to emulate the notch on their Xiaomi phones.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX, launched in 2016, was the phone that prompted big smartphone makers to produce bezel-less devices. With the Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi entered a global market with its marquee device. The smartphone was launched in India last month, and Xiaomi has kicked off sales in Europe earlier this week.
