Gionee is holding an event on September 26 where it will launch its new “FullView Display” smartphone. Gionee’s recent teasers highlight an all-display M7 Power smartphone with almost no bezels on the side. Another Gionee smartphone simply called M7 has also shown up on leaks. Gionee could be launching both of these smartphones, or possibly just one with an undecided moniker. Renders of the alleged Gionee M7 have now been posted on Weibo.
First spotted by TAS, the image shows the front panel of the Gionee M7 looking akin to the outlined smartphone on Gionee’s teasers. The Gionee M7 is seen in gold color with very thin bezels on top and bottom, and almost no bezels on the sides. The absence of a physical Home button hints on a rear fingerprint sensor, and capacitive touch buttons. The image further reveals a power button and volume rocker on the right side. The front camera lens and speaker are visible on the top bezel.

With “FullView Display” being the highlight of the Gionee M7, the smartphone is expected to have aspect ratio of 18:9. Gionee appears to be following the latest trend in smartphones this year of an all-display smartphone. This year, smartphone companies like Samsung and LG popularized “Infinity Display” and “FullVision Display” on the Galaxy S8 duo and LG G6 smartphones respectively. In-house company Micromax also hopped on the train recently with the launch of the Canvas Infinity boasting a 5.7-inch “Infinity Display”.

In terms of specifications, the Gionee M7 is expected to feature a 6-inch display with 720×1440 pixels resolution. Under its hood, runs the MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz and Mali-T880 GPU. The smartphone could come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For photography, the Gionee M7 is expected to sport a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and front as well. There are some reports which suggest a dual-camera setup on the Gionee M7. Both the rear and front cameras are said to be capable of shooting 4k videos. On the software front, the smartphone will most likely run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
