Razer's rumored gaming smartphone sports a look slightly similar to the Nextbit Robin.
Razer recently teased the launch of a smartphone, which has created quite a buzz. Razer is expected to launch a gaming smartphone at its event scheduled to take place on November 1. Other than a teaser, there wan’t anything else leaked on the rumored smartphone. Until now that is. A fresh new leak has now arrived showing the alleged Razer smartphone’s design. It has also shown up on benchmarking website GFXBench.
According to Slovakian website TechByte (via GSMArena), the smartphone was acquired by a source from the gaming industry. The smartphone is photographed with its back panel shown. Based on the image, the Razer smartphone sports a dual-camera setup placed at the top-left corner alongside a LED flash. On the right side, the volume rocker is visible. We can also see Razer’s logo which is placed at the center of the rear chassis.
Judging by the design, the smartphone does resemble the Nextbit Robin somehow with the geometrical edges and the camera placement. Razer acquired the short-lived smartphone brand, Nextbit earlier this January. Ever since the acquisition there have been speculations and hints dropped of Razer possibly launching a gaming smartphone.
In terms of specifications, the Razer smartphone will feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD display. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz, and paired with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone is also expected to come with 8GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage.
In the photography department, the Razer smartphone is listed with a 12-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities. Up front, it will possibly house an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. On the software front, the smartphone will run on Android 7.0 Nougat which would be ‘Android Razer Edition’.
While the leak does seem quite convincing, it’s safe to take it with a grain of salt. Till now, nothing has been officially confirmed by Razer. The company is known for its gaming accessories, and crazy three screen monitors as well. It’s exciting to see what Razer can bring to the smartphone world.
