We all are aware that the Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are the most expensive phones to buy right now. The base version of the iPhone 8 is priced at Rs 64,000, while the iPhone 8 Plus will cost you Rs 73,000 in India. That is a lot of money. But if you ask your friends in European countries, this is ‘cheap’.
Apple iPhone 8 lineup made it to India earlier than usual this year. While this was seen as a welcome move by a lot of Apple fans here, it was no way an indication there would be any special prices for the Indian market. Cuponation, which is a savings platform, conducted a  survey to compare prices of the iPhone 8 (64GB) in 20 countries, and came out with interesting findings.
According to the findings, the most expensive country to buy the iPhone 8 is Hungary, where the phone costs approximately Rs 66,805. Italy comes close second with the base model priced at Rs 65,170. Evidently, the India prices of the phone stand cheaper in comparison.
Although India is cheaper than five European countries, it is certainly not the cheapest.
Every year when Apple announces new iPhones, many of us who are fortunate enough to have friends, family members, or distant relatives staying in the US buy the latest model and dispatch to India. It is no different for the iPhone 8. The cheapest country to buy the iPhone 8 right now is the US, where it is available at approximately Rs 45,204. The survey reveals that the second best place to buy the iPhone 8 is Japan, where the phone will cost at least Rs 18,260 lesser than it is in India.
The UAE, as usual, also features in the list where you can buy the iPhone at Rs 50,161. According to the survey, taking a flight to UAE and purchasing the iPhone there, will still cost you less than buying the iPhone 8 from India. Other countries where you can buy the iPhone 8 cheaper than what it sells for in India include Hong Kong (where it is at least 22 percent cheaper than it is in India), Australia, and Singapore, where it costs between Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000.
Even as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have made it to India ‘almost’ at the same time as other markets, the real deal is the upcoming iPhone X. The anniversary edition iPhone is pricier than the iPhone 8 lineup, at Rs 89,000 for the base model.
