Cows are considered holy in some cultures. In others, perhaps edible. In a bid to spread the knowledge and benefits of cows, Goseva Parivar – an NGO dedicated to the well-being of cows in India, has launched a new app to help you enter their contest about clicking a selfie with a cow.
“When we held the contest last time in 2015, entries had to be sent by WhatsApp, which created some inconvenience for the participants and us. So, this time, with the Goseva Parivar mobile app, it will be easier for us to receive and select entries for the contest,” Lalit Agarwal, head of Goseva Parivar, told The Hindu. The app has been built with the aim of spreading the organization’s vision of ‘serving mother cow by serving humanity’.
The Goseva Parivar is backed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A senior RSS leader is quoted as saying, “Even though we are not directly involved with the contest, we ideologically support and appreciate it.”
If you are an Android user, you can install the app and participate in the ‘Selfie with Gomata’ contest, which runs from October 16 until December 31, 2017. The organizers have categorized the competition in three parameters – Selfie, Selfie with Family, and Selfie with Friends. You can participate in each of the categories by posting pictures accordingly. So a solo selfie with the cow could be put in the first category, if you are posing with your family or friends, then the pictures will be judged accordingly.
There are prizes to be won across categories. The results will be declared on January 21, 2018 at an event of Goseva Parivar in Swabhumi. One must take into account that the creative selfies need must be with only Desi cows or Indian breeds.
