After globally launching the Mi A1 in India earlier this week, Xiaomi is all set to bring the successor to the Mi MIX smartphone in this world. Scheduled to launch on September 11, the smartphone is said to be launching only in China for now. However, rumours have it that the Mi MIX 2 launch will be accompanied with the unveiling of the Mi Note 3. In the meantime, an alleged retail box of the upcoming Mi Note 3 smartphone has surfaced, revealing a bunch of new details, and a hint of the device being ready to hit the market.
GizmoChina reported the leaked retail box, which is seen to be black in color and is sealed with a cellophane. Reportedly, the device might probably be a unit shipped out to licensed retailers ahead of the launch or a unit from Xiaomi’s own store. The box doesn’t even have an image of the phone on it. However, the second image shows the back of the box, which reveals a few details about the phone’s specifications. The first to catch your eyes will be the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC. Other details include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The retail box also confirms that the Mi Note 3 will have a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, and a dual-camera at the rear, which previous rumours suggest could be a pair of 12-megapixel sensors. The box also hints at a glass body. Rumor-wise the smartphone will also ditch the 3.5 mm audio jack and go for the USB Type-C port.
From what we know so far, the Mi Note 3 will come with dual cameras placed on the top left corner. The Mi Note 3 also looks like it will come with a dual curved edge display like the Mi Note 2. The teaser shows no rear fingerprint sensor, and this could possibly mean that the fingerprint scanner will be placed up front below the display like the Mi 6.
As mentioned, the Mi Note 3 launch, will be accompanying the Mi MIX 2 at an event in China tomorrow. The Mi MIX 2 is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. Some rumours also suggest that the Mi MIX 2 would be paired with 8GB of RAM. Reportedly, the smartphone will come in two storage variants – 128GB and 256GB. In terms of display, for which the series is known for, the Mi MIX 2 will flaunt a large display with 93-percent screen-to-body-ratio with minimum bezels surrounding it. The smartphone is expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat running with MIUI (version 9.0) on top of it. It is further expected to come with 3D Facial recognition for biometric authentication.
