It’s been a year since Reliance Jio started its telecom operations, and the competing telcos are still trying to cope up with its disruptive pricing. In a similar attempt, Airtel India has launched a bunch of new offers that range from Rs 8 to Rs 399. In this range, Airtel is offering seven different data packs.
The lowest pack is priced at Rs 8, which offers local and STD calls at 30 paise per minute, and no data, with a validity of 56 days. Next is a plan priced at Rs 40, which offers a talk time of Rs 35 with unlimited validity, and 600MB of 4G data for 3 days. Similarly, there is a Rs 60 plan, which offers a top-up of Rs 58 with unlimited validity, but with without any data. Further, there is a Rs 199 plan, which offers unlimited local mobile calls with 1GB of 2G/3G/4G data, with a validity of 28 days. Whereas the Rs 149 plan offers unlimited Airtel to Airtel calls plus 2GB data at 4G speed with 28 days validity.

Above these are Rs 349 and Rs 399 plans. The Rs 349 plan offers unlimited local and STD calls plus 28GB of data for 28 days under this plan, however, it comes with a cap of 1GB data per day, which is how it comes to a total data of 28GB through its validity. On the other hand, the Rs 399 plan offers 1GB data per day at 4G speed along with unlimited local and STD calls, for a validity of 84 days. People aware of Jio plans will notice a striking resemblance to Jio’s Rs 399 plan, which also offers 84GB of data for 84 days, with a FUP of 1GB data per day. However, do note, that before you get the Rs 399 plan, you need to check with the customer care, whether the plan is available for you or not.
Besides these plans, Airtel has also come up with a Rs 5 offer, under which it is offering 4GB of 3G and 4G data for 7 days. However, duly note that this offer is valid only after 4G SIM upgradation and for one-time recharge only.
If we compare the Rs 349 plan to what Jio offers at the same price, it comes with unlimited local and STD voice calling, 20GB of 4G data, with no FUP limit, for a validity of 56 days. Rest of the plans are extremely similar. Also, it is to be noted, that all these plans are meant for prepaid users only.
