Nokia 9 spotted running Android 8.0 Oreo as opposed to Nougat 7.1.1 seen so far

Today’s Nokia 9 leak is quite contrasting from past rumors.

Nokia 9 flagship smartphone with Android 8.0 Oreo and Snapdragon...

After an unknown Sony smartphone running Android Oreo was spotted on GFXBench today, the Nokia 9 has now showed up on the benchmarking website. It’s not that there hasn’t been a Nokia 9 leak before this, but up till now, all the leaks about the smartphone expected the device to run Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box. However, today’s leak shows the smartphone running the latest Android Oreo.
Apart from the OS, the other leaked specifications are pretty much in line with the leaks we have across in the past. The listing shows the purported Nokia 9 in what appears to be two variants, somewhat like the concept of a smaller and a plus variant. The lower variant is shown with Android 7.1.1 Nougat (as we have heard in the past), whereas the higher one comes with Android 8.0 Oreo. The two variants also differ based on their screen size. There is one listed with a 5.2-inch display, and one with a 5.3-inch display.

Other than that, all specifications are common. According to the listing, the smartphones will be powered by a 64-bit 2.4GHz Qualcomm chipset with octa-core, accompanied by an Adreno 540 GPU. Apparently, the smartphones will be equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

For photography, the listing suggests a 12-megapixel camera at the rear, which would also have 4K video recording capabilities. The rear camera will also feature autofocus, face detection, flash, HDR support, and touch focus. Up front, is also a 12-megapixel sensor, which also support 4K video recording.
Besides, from what the past rumors suggest, the Nokia 9 will feature a near bezel-less design. In terms of specifications, earlier leaks have been quite contrasting. The Nokia 9 has been suggested to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to come with 128GB of onboard storage. For photography, the Nokia 9 is rumored to come with a dual-camera setup as seen on the Nokia 8.
Additionally, the smartphone is rumored to house a 3,800mAh battery along with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 support. It is expected to feature a rear fingerprint sensor and a possible iris scanner as well. It could also come with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
