JioPhone booked? Now wait for September when you will pay refundable Rs 1000 fee and get the phone

JioPhone

JioPhone pre-booking is live. It went live on August 24, which is yesterday. Although there was some teething problems as many people tried to book the JioPhone, now the Jio website and apps are seemingly working as intended. Interested people can book this 4G feature phone via both online and offline channels. The rush to book JioPhone seems to be massive, and probably this is why the company website crashed on August 24. However, even though the site crashed initially, the consumers could somehow manage to book JioPhone for themselves. The site is working fine now, at least it isn't crashing. So, now that you have booked the JioPhone, the question is when will you get it?
Update: Some media reports have revealed that on day 1 of pre-booking, Jio has received up to 4 million pre-booking for JioPhone. However, Jio has not officially confirmed the report as of now.

India Today Tech spoke to a few retailers in the Deli NCR area, and they confirmed us that the JioPhone will be hit the stores in September. Estimated time is around the first week of September. Same was told by Reliance Jio chief Mukesh Ambani at the 40th annual general meeting of Reliance. He said that consumers will get the JioPhone in September. So, if you have booked the JioPhone, chances are that you'll get the device delivered in September first week.
Consumers who have successfully booked the JioPhone will get a message when the phone with the store details. Soon after the JioPhone hits the nearest store as per the address provided by the consumer. Jio it seems will send a message along with the store details the consumer so that he or she can go there pick up the phone. This also means, whether a consumer has booked the 4G feature phone via online or offline channel, JioPhone will not be delivered at doorstep. The consumer will have to go to the store to get the JioPhone.
Also, while picking up the JioPhone, you will have to pay Rs 1000 in addition to Rs 500 that you have already paid. This money is for the Rs 1500 refundable security fee that has to be paid by consumers for the JioPhone. This money, says Jio, will be returned after three years when the consumer returns the JioPhone back to the company.
After booking the phone, several consumers are getting a confirmation message from Jio which reads: "Congratulations. Prebooking of India ka smartphone JioPhone is successful. Payment of Rs 500 received. On availability of JioPhone, you will receive an SMS with store details." The message also includes the transaction ID, and the Voucher details.

Documents to carry to get JioPhone

You need Aadhaar to book JioPhone. But, then if you're booking the phone via online channels like - Jio.com and MyJio App you don't need to give you Aadhaar details at the time of pre-registering. This means that when you go to get your device from the store, first thing that you should carry is your Aadhaar card. Apart from this, the consumer may also require to carry with them the confirmation that they have received from Jio after booking the phone.
Some took to Twitter to post that they have booked the JioPhone, money got deducted, but never received the confirmation message. Well, this may be because of the rush and everyone may surely receive the confirmation of the booking soon.
